Talking about Labours of Love

November 18, 2008

Well a month has passed and it has been an exciting one. I have been doing a lot of interviews on radio and for newspapers and I’m getting a little  tired of hearing myself talk about it but then I have to remember that the people that I am talking to are sending this out to different people so they are not hearing the same thing over and over again.

Its been great to hear positive comments about the book and to have people say that it is about time that someone has written a book that is truly a Canadian take on this subject. What I find most exciting is that the journey about learning about adoption continues with every person I meet.  It’s hard to believe that I could learn or hear more and more unique perspectives than I did during the process of the book but it just illustrates the unique experiences of everyone involved in adoption.

The one thing that I am a little nervous about as I speak over the air waves is that I am going to mess up and say something to offend others, say something that can be misconstrued, or make a factual mistake. I will just have to try to stay true to one of the biggest points of this book, and that is to improve adoption practices and perceptions in this country.
